Thandi Jacobs started Kloof Landscaping in 2012 after training in landscape design and years of running maintenance crews for a large contractor. She wanted gardens that suit the Cape, that hold up through a dry summer and give something back to the birds and bees.
Thirteen years later the team is nine people: a design and build crew and two maintenance teams that look after gardens in Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein and Stellenbosch.
We look before we quote. Soil, sun, wind and water decide what will thrive, and we would rather tell you that a lawn will struggle under your oaks than sell you one. Plans are drawn, quotes are itemised, and hard landscaping goes in before the planting so nothing gets trampled.
Most of what we plant is indigenous or waterwise, mulched and on drip irrigation. New gardens need water to establish; after the first season they need far less than a conventional garden.
